Wondering what we are all about? We are a Christian, non-profit organization of Radnor Church of the Nazarene in Nashville, TN dedicated to healing the City one life at a time through evangelism, discipleship and social action.
We accomplish our mission by providing food boxes, clothes, and household items for the homeless and needy families in the Middle Tennessee community. We also have a furniture assistance program for individuals and families, with emphasis being placed on those coming out of homelessness, domestic violence and addiction centers, and prison.
Additional Service Opportunities
Ladies' Luncheon - This annual event takes place close to Mother's Day when we invite women we have served throughout the year to a very special luncheon. Usually, we have about 100 women attend along with 30 volunteers.
Thanskgiving Meal - in November, we serve a meal to anyone that comes and joins us. last year, we served over 350 meals, with over 35 volunteers participating.
Christmas Party for Kids - This past Christmas we gave toys to nearly 300 children from the needy areas of our community. For our special entertainment, Buddy Jewel, the winner of the first "Nashville Stars" competition, performed for the children. What an awesome treat for everyone! This past year we had over 30 Comdata employees provide toys for the event. We also had an employee come and take picturs of the children with Santa at the employee's expense!
Block Party - After the week of our Summer Vacation Bible School from the neighborhood, we have a big party for the kids.
Special Events - This past year we did 2 special programs involving Lipscomb University students. Each program involved about 50 students and 50 guests. The students prepared a nice dinner and shared the meal with the guests. What a wonderful learning experience for all!
Referral Services - Since we can't be everything to everybody, we do a tremendous amount of networking wtih other agencies, referring clients to other agencies that serve needs that are not within our ability. These referrals are reciprocated back to us for services we provide. These referral services mainly have to do with financial services and shelter.
Mission Groups - Youth groups from all over the ocuntry come to the mission throughout the summer doing community service projects at the mission as well as special projects for the people we serve. This is a great opportunity for the teens to give of themselves to others. These love actions are what heal a city!
Counseling Services - We just recently partnered wtih Pastoral Counseling Centers of Tennesse to provide onsite counseling in the following areas: depression, alcoholism and other addictions, marital distress, family issues, sexual abuse, stress, anxiety and other related issues. This serivce is critical in pursuing our mission statement. This service is free for those who cannot afford it.
